Jennifer's Story:

I wasn’t overweight as a child. Even during college, I didn’t have problems. But I started gaining weight after I graduated. And then one day about two years ago, I decided I didn’t want to live that way any more. I decided to start eating better and healthier… and became more conscious of what I was putting into my body.

I did the Atkins diet and lost a ton of weight. But as soon as I started eating carbs again, I gained it all back. Plus some. So instead of another crash diet, I changed the way I ate. For breakfast, I’d have an egg white omelet, or a high-fiber cereal, or frozen waffles when I was craving something sweet. For lunch, it was salad with grilled chicken, or a sandwich. I tried to eat more organic foods, especially eggs and dairy. Dinner varied.

I exercised, too. Went to the gym, walked with my dogs, biked, swam, and ran. People really underestimate how good exercise is for you. With this approach, it was slow and steady. I lost about 40 pounds in a year and a half... then Tasti D-Lite came to town.

I knew Tasti D-Lite because I used to work in New York City, and Tasti was right across the street from my office. Back then, I was there every day for lunch, and it quickly became my favorite thing for a treat. After I moved away, I would have it whenever I went back to New York.

When it came to my area, I started having Tasti D-Lite for dessert almost every day. After dinner, I would go to the gym. And after the gym, I would have Tasti D-Lite. I would say to myself, “If you want to do the gym, and you do well, here’s a snack you can have.” With all my other habits, Tasti gave me extra motivation to get through my day.

I live the variety of flavors. One day you have lime… then peanut butter… and you get your choice every day. I tried the Tasti sandwiches and the caramel sundae… they’re fantastic. I’ve sampled the shakes, but haven’t ordered one. I always want what I want: my favorite flavor, Chocolate Oreo Mint in a cake cone.

Before Tasti came to my neighborhood, I had lost 40 pounds in about a year and a half. Then in March, Tasti D-Lite opened here, and the weather was nice, so I walked almost every time I went, 2 miles each way. I’ve lost another 35 pounds since March—adding up to 75 pounds total.

Now I’m really motivated to be the best person I can be. I’m getting married next year, and I want to be the best version of myself for my future husband … and just for me. You just can’t underestimate the little things. Losing weight and getting healthier with Tasti really keeps me going.
